It was given Traditional Turkish Houses Prize to Ocakköy which was made an example Project by restoring the old houses by a German businessman. It was given a tourism prize at that moment to the houses which had been left by the public by reason of no water in 1970 year. The prize was given to Friedrich Schmidt who is the business executive of these houses which furnish services to the tourism now and had been left a long years ago in Ocakköy where is Ovacık location, çatallar place of ölüdeniz (Blue lagoon). ölüdeniz Mayor, Keramettin YILMAZ who joined to the award ceromony wished that it become an example to Kayaköy which has turned to be ruined and has suffered from neglect for long years.
Friedrich Schmidt who got the Traditional Turkish Houses Private prize brought in 32 stone houses to the tourism by restoring them in a modal where handicapped people will be able to accomodate, too. The houses which were said that they are nearly 100 years old were brought in to tourism by restoring in 20 years. 5 of the 32 houses totally which give the services to the tourism give the services to the handicapped people. The Turkish houses which give the services to the tourism create big interests of local and foreign holidayers.
The prize which was decided to be given by Ölüdeniz Municipality, Fethiye Office of Tema Foundation and Fethiye Society of Protection of Nature was given yesterday by an award ceromony done. Ölüdeniz Mayor, Keramettin YILMAZ, Provincial Tourism director, Burhan COŞKUN, and a lot of invited guests joined to the award ceromony. Fethiye represent of Tema Foundation, Oktay TİRLİ who made a speech at the ceromony told: “this project which was done without damaging the nature is really an example project. I congratulate the people who made this project.
I wish that this project which is served to the service in Ölüdeniz becomes an example to the other managers and businessman.”
Fethiye Provincial Tourism Director, Burhan COŞKUN told that: “ I didn”t know a place like this despite I have officiated in Fethiye for long years. This complex really forms an example which is formed secretly with the nature. I think that having this kind of complexes in Ölüdeniz is big instrumental in tourism.”
Ölüdeniz Mayor, Keramettin YILMAZ said like this at his speech; “I was born and grew up here. There was this village where we are now, when we were children, too but later it disappeared. And I thank our friend,Friedrich Schmidt who has made here an example place by his works since nearly 20 years. In 1970, these houses had been left. Here became a house which adapted our tradition and culture. The feeling of Turkish houses live inside and outside picture of the house. I congratulate Friedrich Schmidt who makes tourism in a waterless village. We will be with this complex all the time as Ölüdeniz Municipality and know that it will elicit contribution to the tourism of country, too. I”d like these houses to be an example to Kayaköy.”
