Villagers will secure the history and nature by standing guard. In Yayla Ceylan village, Incealiler location, villagers are opposing the works of company who got licence to bring out marble, by reason of the area is so close to ONEANDA ancient city and Eren Mountain Ski center.
In Yayla village where is on the plateau (Yayla) road that attach Fethiye to big centers like Antalya, Ankara, İstanbul an done of most popular villages which started to devolop plateau tourism and attracts attention with agriculture, nature and history of Fethiye,villagers opposed to defoliate the nature. Villagers reacted to work which will be done in Yayla Ceylan village, İncealiler Location by Haz Marble Ltd. Co. By reason of it damages historical ruins and ski tourism which is increasing on the area.
Villagers underlined that they will oppose the work which will be done on the area and even stand guard succesively in the following days. Aggregrate production yard was built to asphalt work, while Fethiye- Antalya road was being built in 1985. Now, villagers opposed this area where is wanted to open as marble quarry again by violance.
The villagers who want not to be damaged said area will apply to Fethiye District, Muğla Governorship, Protection of natural and historical heritage office by way of petition. The public who dream to do tourism with Eren Mountain Ski Center, Telmessos ancient sight, Historical Urluca bridge which is under the protection and from Ottoman period and Oneanda ancient city which is 1st and 3rd degree protected area know that touch bottom with this marble quarry.
Durmuş İNCE from Yayla village told : “There very important historical ruins in this place which was rented by Haz Marble Company. We think this marble quarry takes a swing at tourism by reason of it is on the road of Eren Mountain Ski center which is being tried to bring in tourism said area by spending lots of money. On the other hand, this marble quarry will damage general fibre of Seki Champaign, too. We permitted land routes office to be used this area for a short time as stock quarry. But, they try to open a stock quarry here again. However, here is a tourism area which looks like Switzerland by reason of these stones. Also, there is ONEANDA ancient city on the top of the hill where stock quarry is wanted.”
Turgut ÇAKAL said “ we oppose to open a stock quarry here is a tourism area. Because of new barrage which will be built here, we are abhorrent, too. The area where this stock quarry will be built is an ancient area. We will transmit our damnification by going until highest authorities.”
Yayla Kınık village mughtar, Mehmet ÜNAL said: “ opening of said marble quarry again bothers our villagers. This work had been already started and later cancelled and now is wanted to start again.”
