In Yaka village where is belonged to Fethiye town of Muğla, villagers wanted to get help from Muğla Governor for being corrected their damnifications which have arisen as a result of widening the protected area.

Occupants of Yaka village who visited Muğla Governor Lütfi YİĞENOĞLU with Chairman of Provincial Council Cem ERKİN told that They are aggrieved from the protected area which was widened because of the excavation works in Tlos ancient city.

The chairman of Muğla Provincial Council, Cem ERKİN who gave information about the subject to Muğla Governor Lütfi YİĞENOĞLU said: “Yaka village is one of our village where is near Hidden city (Saklıkent). Trout farming is done here, also there are a lot of touristic hotels. But most of our villagers live on by agriculture. Protected area was widened because of excavation works in Tlos ancient city on the previous days. Because of this, our villagers got aggrieved.” By specifying that protected area was widened because of the excavation works where is done in the castle in Tlos ancient city.

IT WAS LAID THE FOUNDATION OF THE SCHOOL BUT CONSTRUCTION WAS STOPPED.

Cem ERKİN by pointing out that protected area content about Tlos ancient city contains nearly the whole of the village, told these: “Protected area which was widened because of ancient character of the area and safety of the excavation,affected our villagers in a negative way. Even, we”d  like to have a school built to our village. It was laid the foundation of the school but, construction was stopped at that moment. Because, school land is in the line of the protected area. We have granted an allowance for building up this school, too. This village was come not to be lived here because of widening the protected area. We”d like promptly to be retracted the protected areas from committee.”  

The mukhtar of Yaka village, Keramettin KAYA who pointed out that they have been living hard days after widening the Protected area talked as; “ at the moment, we are not able to farm even crop to our fields where are in the line of the protected area. As villagers, all of us are aggrieved. We”d like to solve our damnification. We had to discontinue the school construction. Our 200 student are in a pickle. They want us to uproot olive trees in our some fields. All of us got aggrieved in our 440 housed and 2 thousand 500 populated village.”

Muğla Provincial Culture and Tourism Manager, Osman SÜSLÜ who was ready during the visiting gave some information about the works which can be done  in Yaka village. SÜSLÜ who attracted attention that the village is located at the prior Archeological protected area told: “our discussions are going on with committee about solving the damnification of our villagers. We have some works about this subject. It can be gone to swap the public domain with the people who have the fields in the protected area. Also, our government can pay the product cost every year to the fields where won”t be used after now by determining the produced products with the comision which will be formed with Provincial Agricuture department and Culture and Tourism Department on the area. We will start these works.”

Muğla Governor Lütfi YİĞENOĞLU who listened to the conversations attentively talked like this: “If there is a damnification which was happened, we try our best to solve this. Our friends can notify their complainments by way of a petition. We will do necessary acts at this subject.”

TLOS ANCIENT CITY

It is reached to Tlos ancient city which is about 25km away from Fethiye by going to Düver (Kale-Castle) from Kemer which there is parting of Fethiye-Antalya roads.

The information about the history of the ancient city which name was Tlava in Lycian language got from coins and inscriptions. Benndorf suggests that the relief which was found in a tomb in Tlos dated to 5th century B.C. the name of the city got place on the coins which pressed during the 4th century B.C. in Lycian language. During the 2nd century A.D., it is seen at the written sources that Opramoas who was one of the richest person from Rhodiapolis and another Lycian rich Licinnius from Oinoanda got help from Langus. At the castle on the Acropolis of Tlos ancient city which was often talked from its name during the Byzantian period, too, A local potentate with Ali Agha name ruled during the 19th century A.D. a city wall which was belonged to Lycian period at the eastern side of the Acropolis, the tombs which have the inscriptions in Lycian language, city walls from Roman period, Stadium, Bath, a big Byzantian Church and Agora ruins are the first historical buildings which draw the attention.

All but the theatre which decorated stage building is all ruinous and cavea is fairly well-preserved, Izraza Monument which has the Lycian inscription on and a tower which is from Roman period and still keeps its original highness can be among the interesting historical buildings of Tlos ancient city.
