Fethiye Mayor Behçet Saatçi won an award at the project contest organized by the Konya Councils Association on the subject of Social City Governing. Mayor Saatçi received his award at a ceremony organized at the Konya 4th Municipality Requirements Fair. Speaking after the ceremony, Mayor Saatçi announced that it was a great honor to receive such an award from Konya, one of the tigers of Anatolia, and said, “The Council”s job is not just building sidewalks, roads and sewage systems, and gathering garbage. It is the responsibility of the council to find solutions for all issues that people encounter from birth to the grave. 2 years ago, our waste water reclamation facilities were also found worthy of an award. This term, receiving the award for social services has given us greater pleasure. Because our other services may be overlooked by our people, but social services get more of a response and we can help our people who have problems. Services such as women”s sanctuary, retirement home, rehabilitation center and the free books we have distributed to students preparing for university exams brought us this award. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Konya Greater City Mayor Tahir Akyürek, who has impartially evaluated the services and found them worthy of an award, without taking political parties into consideration, in this day when everything is judged according to a party emblem.”
