Registrations for the Sailing Club Optimist Summer Courses, created by the Turgutreis Council within its own structure to get children interested in sailing, have started.
8 to 13 year-olds will be able to join the courses at the Sailing Club, which will pursue its activities within the structure of the council. Those wishing to register have to apply to the Council”s Media and Public Relations Service. The objective is for approximately 40 potential athletes to attend the courses in the town where the great Seafarer, Admiral Turgut Reis was born. It has been declared that the courses start on June 16th, and that registration is going on. The athletes who will receive basic seamanship training from experienced instructors in optimist and laser class boats, will then compete, first in the province, then on a regional and national level for success.
Turgutreis Mayor Ali Server Yazgan, declaring that they would have the Sailing Club Facilities next to the Marina ready and open by the summer season, said, “A recent decision taken by our City Council decrees that all activities, sailing races and courses be undertaken by our council. Our club with its modern sailing facilities and experienced instructors will sustain its activities, especially aimed at children, throughout the summer and winter months with optimist and laser class boats. Our aim is to train successful athletes.”
