A German paraglider who landed short of his target and hit rocks near the Fethiye district of Muğla was rescued Wednesday by an air rescue team. Kazsten Fröhlich, 51, jumped from Babadağ, a favourite paragliding location, around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, but lost control at an altitude of 700 meters and crashed into rocks, suffering injures that impaired his movement. When another paraglider saw him, a solo paraglider, Mahoni Malkoç, was sent down and successfully landed near the injured man. Malkoç marked the location by lighting a flare, after which a rescue team was sent from the Dalaman Air Command. The rescue team arrived in 10 minutes and rescued Fröhlich, who was taken to Fethiye State Hospital. Fröhlich sustained fractures to his ribs and shoulder, but has no serious injuries, doctors said. "When I arrived at the location, he was lying there without moving. After administering first aid, I called the rescue team. By lighting flares, we helped them locate us," Malkoç said.
