The Ölüdeniz Municipality service building construction, started at the end of the 2006 season by the Ölüdeniz Municipality, cannot be completed due to a lack of funds. The rough construction of the service building on a vacant lot at the Hisarönü junction is said to have been completed, but when construction stopped with the onset of the new season, and funds dried up, the building was left as it is for two years. Ölüdeniz Assistant Mayor İsmet Çadırcı, whom we asked about the building, says they are doing their best to have the building completed. Çadırcı, declaring that the funds they have been expecting have not yet reached them, complained of being in dire straits because of this. Çadırcı, explaining that they would start work to finish the lower floors as soon as possible, with the upper floors to be completed at a later date, said that the construction ban during the tourist season also impacted the completion of the building. Continuing by saying that once the building is finished and the roof is in place, the lower floors would be used, and added, ’The Ölüdeniz Council will be housed in a much more modern building to carry out its services. We shall try to complete the construction, which was interrupted due to a lack of funds, as soon as possible. I cannot give you a definite date, but we are hoping to complete the construction before the 2009 summer season. At least we are making an effort, and will continue to do so. Like with everything else, we shall complete this venture with honor. Our service building which will also house the post office will be worthy of Ölüdeniz.”
