Coastal walkway works between İçmeler Munamar Hotel and Martı Laperla Hotel are continuing at a great rate. The 702 meter long, 4 meter wide road will be paved with pressed bricks, and lined with constructed rocks and historical figures from the Ionian, Roman, and earlier civilizations that lived in the region in ancient times. The appearance of an antique walkway is being emphasized with lighting units shaped like antique columns. Seating units will be placed on both the shore and the road sides of the walkway to enable tourists to rest during their walk, and between swims. Mayor Yavuz Çokberkit said, “We are continuing our efforts to make İçmeler more attractive to tourists from home and abroad.”
İçmeler coast will start the new season with its new look. Part of the coastal walkway in the area much liked by tourists from home and abroad will be finished this year, with the rest of the renovation taking place next year. The renovation of the 702-meter section between Munamar and Martı Laperla Hotels started on February 28th. The lighting units of the section, which will be completed within 60 days, cast iron previously, will be constructed of plaster. Mayor Yavuz Çokberkit, pointing out that 19 lighting units were to be constructed, says, “The new construction will be more pleasing to the eye as well as more robust and long lasting. Furthermore, 142 meters of plain constructed rocks, and 190 meters of sculptures and reliefs will give the coastal walkway a more colorful and attractive look. In place of the wooden seating groups that we couldn”t maintain, 19 concrete seating groups with a stone look will be constructed. The ground of the walkway will be paved with pressed bricks and mosaics.”
