Muğla, with its choice tourism centers, is second in the listing of Blue Flag provinces. Muğla was listed second with 57 beaches in touristic cities such as Fethiye, Bodrum and Marmaris, while Antalya hit the top of the list with 143 blue flag beaches. İzmir was third with 21 beaches. On the other hand, Muğla was first with 7 blue flag marinas while Antalya and İstanbul had two and Balıkesir and Aydın had one each. However, while Turkey was in 10th place in Europe with 14 blue flag marinas, it dropped to 11th place when the number flags went down to 13. Conversely, the number of beaches flying the blue flag, awarded to quality beaches meeting the necessary standards, went up to 258, bringing Turkey to the third place after Spain and Greece. Turkey, where 12 beaches and 9 marinas had been awarded blue flags for the first time in 1994, received 258 blue flags for beaches and 13 for marinas this year. In third place after Spain with 455 blue flag beaches and Greece with 430 blue flag beaches, Turkey was in fourth place last year with 235 beaches after France with 238 blue flag beaches.
