The daily boat tours from the coast of Akyaka on Gökova Bay, organized to show off the matchless beauty of the coves in the bay, have become the focus of attention of native and foreign tourists with the increase in air temperature and enlivening of the tourism industry.
One of the most popular stopping off points for tourists preferring the Muğla region for their holidays is the Akyaka town on the Gökova Bay, and inside the Special Environmental Protection Area.
It has been observed that tourists show a lot of interest in the daily boat tours to the coves along the Akyaka and Gökova Bay coastline, both for the enjoyment of the beauty of these coves and for the enjoyment of the sea in them, as well as the small boat tours along the rivers.
Boat tours are preferred both for the enjoyment of the sea in these coves with their green forests and crystal clear waters, and for being economical. The boat trips cost 15 to 20 TRL per person, and the price includes a tasty and generous lunch. The boats leave at 9:30 a.m., travel to the coves where they stay for a set time to let everybody enjoy the sea and a holiday within nature, and return to Akyaka around 6:00 - 6:30 p.m.
While all tourists agree that they prefer the daily boat trips along the Gökova coast, not only for the natural beauty, but also for the cleanness of the sea, visitors from abroad express their appreciation of the beauty of the Gökova Bay and the coves, and say that they are happy to have taken the tours.
Akyaka Mayor Ahmet Çalca says that with the boat tours an opportunity to enjoy a peaceful holdiay in the coves, where green and blue meet in harmony, is provided for holdiaymakers. Declaring that utmost care is being taken to protect nature and the environment, Çalca told us that to this end, the city council collected garbage from yachts, and the boats emptied their bilge water into the Biological Refinery built by the Special Environmental Protection Association and turned over to the council.
Some visitors also opt for the small boat tours plying the breathtakingly beautiful, paradise-like rivers of Akyaka.
