Facial care gets fruity

Fruit is the flavor of the month in the cosmetics world: Women have long been eager to preserve their beauty using natural alternatives such as aloe vera and herbs like nettle, sage, linden flower and mint, but the plant power used today is altogether more appetizing.

The cosmetics sector has recognized the importance of vitamins to keep skin healthy and looking rejuvenated and glorious. A new trend has emerged to promote cucumber, apricot, raisin, almond, avocado, pomegranate, peach, coconut, lemon, cherry, fig, grapefruit, orange, apple, hazelnut and vanilla as sources of vitamins that may be used to make the skin healthier. Creams and shampoos smell good enough to eat these days. Experts confirm that these products include vitamins A, C and E which all help keep hair and skin vibrant.

Raisin and pomegranate extracts are currently attracting attention for their antioxidant and anti-aging effects. There are also products that combine several fruits for a greater impact. For instance, coconut-avocado, mango-mandarin, almond-avocado, raisin-cherry-lemon and pomegranate-green tea are among most trendy and popular combinations of late.

Feed your hair

Fruit-scented products are also used in the making of shampoos, conditioners and other hair care products. Organix, one of the latest products launched in the sector, is popular among glamour goddesses and starlets alike, with fans including Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Simpson, Kate Hudson, Jennifer Hudson and Hillary Duff.

For dyed, dry and sensitive hair, shampoo with essence of coconut is nutritious and protective. If your hair is curly, you should use a shampoo with mango, bitter orange oil and orange flower for bright and smooth tresses. You may increase the volume of your hair by using tea tree and mint oil. Shampoo with avocado oil is best for dry and brittle hair.

Which fruit does what?

Raisin: An antioxidant, raisin protects the body against free radicals and delays aging.

Pomegranate: Frequently used in the anti-aging products owing to its antioxidant impact.

Lemon: lemon is used to repair broken nails and also improves the skin on exposed areas like hands.

Cherry oil: An excellent nutrient-rich mask for hair, it feeds the dry and brittle hair and remoisturizes.

Mango: Softens the skin with lipid support.

Peach: Rejuvenates and nourishes the skin.

Grapefruit: Facilitates blood flow, softens the skin and relaxes it.

Coconut: Rich in oils it keeps the skin moist and soft.

Fig: Relaxes and protects the skin with its high sugar concentration.

Wild strawberry: Rich in vitamin and minerals. It rejuvenates the tissues and prevents wrinkles.

Huckleberry: Includes vitamins A, B and C, and essential trace minerals. It prevents wrinkles and soothes irritated areas.
