Two friends from Bristol have set off on an epic journey to Nepal in a double-decker bus. Dan Spokes, 34 and Matt Lumber, 29, spent five years converting the 1981 Bristol VR for the 22,000 mile trip.
The bus, which used to take people from Bristol to Weston-super-Mare, will raise money for charity by offering friends a bed on board, for a charge.
The classic car restorers will be charting their five-month adventure across 25 countries on the internet.
On the way, they will dropping off equipment for a specialist nursery in Bristol”s twin town of Tblisi in Georgia.
"Unknowns”
The bus is said to have a 12-litre Gardener Diesel engine and a top speed of 75 mph.
It also has a flushing toilet, a shower and three bed "compartments".
Before they left from the Downs on Sunday, Mr Lumber said one of the most worrying things were the unknowns.
"If it breaks down, there”s not a lot you can do about it," he said.
All money raised from the journey will be split between Mr Spoke”s charity, the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation, and keen climber Mr Lumber”s choice, Mountain Rescue.
