The courses organized by the National Education Ministry within the framework of the “Mother and Daughter at School” campaign are continuing. Preparations for the second stage of the courses started with 21 students at the halls of the Fethiye Public Education Center and Evening Trade School are under way. It has been announced that interest in the entirely free courses is great. The course students, taking their third lesson yesterday, are learning to write the letters. The ladies attending the courses given by Atatürk Primary Education School teacher Saadettin Güvenç three times and ten hours a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, seem very pleased with their advancement. The course, which will end on the 7th of November, aims to reach illiterate mothers and daughters in our city, as the campaign does countrywide. The emphasis is on the importance and priority of education in our age. On the other hand, while it is understood that the free expression of women, and their ability to stand on their own feet and meet their communal needs are closely associated with literacy, the literacy rate in our city, especially in the districts of Esenköy, Karadere, Eşen and Kumluova, is very low.
