It”s been viewed as something that”s done by uneducated men who are on steroids and do nothing but work out and go to the tanning salon. But bodybuilding is actually done by men and women, young and old, who are interested in improving their health and ability as well as their looks.
Turkey Bodybuilding Foundation founded in 1998 to serve for Turkish Sports and Turkish Youth is organising a festival titled, ’Bodrum Show and Performance Festival” at Delfi Hotel on June 16, 2007. Turkey”s Bodybuilding Fitness and Arm Wrestling Federation former president and Bodybuilding Foundation President, Eryetiş Kurtaral, said that they were expecting nation-wide participation for the 1st Bodrum Show and Performance Festival held jointly by Turkey Bodybuilding and Fitness Foundation and Bodrum Bodybuilding Foundation. Eryetiş Kurtaral, noting that the festival which was held in İzmir last year will be held in Bodrum this year, spoke as follows, ’As the executive committee of the foundation, we have decided to hold the second run of the festival in Bodrum. We try to establish the festival as a traditional event. We plan to bring activity and animation into tourism in Bodrum with the festival to be held at Delfi Hotel in Bodrum. The event will welcome competitors from all over the world. A couple of professional athletes will also take part in the Bodybuilding competition. The Festival is not only about the bodybuilding but also about the Swimsuit Fashion Show with Turkish Top Models.”
The 1st Bodrum Show and Performance Festival has already attracted sponsorship from local businesses, including the Bodrum Chamber of Commerce, Bodrum Municipality and Bodrum Delfi Hotel.
