"Mustafa," the upcoming documentary recounting the life story of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk by journalist Can Dündar, has set Oct. 29, Republic Day, as its release date in movie theaters across the country.
The film, featuring an original soundtrack composed by renowned Bosnian musician Goran Bregovic, is aimed at bringing into the spotlight the parts of Atatürk”s life that have until today remained in the dark, according to the film”s production team. The team, under experienced journalist, writer and documentary maker Dündar, famous for his documentaries focusing on Turkey”s near history, has traveled to a wide range of locations, from Thessaloniki to Damascus and from Sofia to Berlin and Carlsbad to film at locations on which Atatürk set foot throughout his 57 years.
The film is based on Atatürk”s diaries, personal notes and letters and features a number of previously unseen photographs of the great statesman found in numerous state and private archives both in Turkey and abroad, the producers said. The film”s trailer has already hit the screen. Featuring a small section of the film”s opening, the trailer recounts Mustafa Kemal”s tough childhood years, narrated by Dündar.
