The Antalya Governor”s Office has banned organizing foam parties in the city, citing an accident during a foam party last month that resulted in three deaths and two injuries. On July 22, a faulty machine at a foam party in a luxury hotel in Antalya”s Kundun tourist district electrocuted five people, two of who were foreign tourists.
Two Israeli tourists, 18-year-old Nır Hakim and his 14-year-old brother Shay, and 20-year-old Fikret Şakacı, a Turkish employee of the five-star hotel, died in the accident. Two people, the operator of the foam machine and a Kazakh man, were hospitalized and discharged after treatment.
The Antalya Governor”s Office issued a circular Thursday saying the occurrence of such an incident would harm the tourism sector.
“To prevent such events, to secure life and property, events under the name “foam party” are banned in Antalya until the facilities in the city are inspected by the Culture and Tourism Ministry on the basis of technical sufficiency, security situation and precautions against the accidents,” read the circular.
During the foam party in Kundun, which was organized by a private company, the Turkish employee who was holding the foam machine had fallen down with the machine in his hand. The hotel administration was blamed for not being ready in case of such an accident.
Foam parties have recently become popular in hotels and clubs on Turkey”s Mediterranean coast, especially in Kemer, where a large number of foreigners spend their summer vacations each year.
