Ağlim Sür and his wife Hataya”s trip around the world ended back in Fethiye after 5 years.
Ağlim Sür (54) of the tourism sector and his wife Chinese born Hataya (30) have completed their world tour, started in 2003 by boat. A welcoming ceremony was organized at Fethiye Ecesaray Marina for the couple, who have completed their tour of the 6 continents and seven seas. The ceremony, attended by the Kaimakam M. Ali Karatekeli, Fethiye Mayor Behçet Saatçi, Ölüdeniz Mayor Keramettin Yılmaz, relatives and friends of the couple, as well as members of the community, displayed emotional scenes. Ağlim and Hataya Sür posed for the photographers with the flags of the countries they visited. The trip on the boat “My Chance”, scheduled to end on Sunday, June 15th, ended a day early. Returning to Turkey by way of Northern Cyprus Turkish Republic, the couple announced that they were planning on preparing a documentary of their journey, and said, “We have traveled all over the world, but we have not seen one place that can compare with Fethiye.” Fethiye Kaimakam M. Ali Karatekeli and Fethiye Mayor presented Ağlim Sür and his wife Hataya Sür, who have been living in Fethiye for the past 30 years, for promoting Fethiye all over the world. A special folk dancing show was staged for the couple, met with flowers from their friends and relatives, by the students of the Private Ata Primary Education School. The show was much admired by the onlookers as well as the couple.
